The weekend’s main game in the First Division was at Square Field, Aberaeron where the home side were unlucky to have gone down to a two goal defeat against St Dogmaels. In an entertaining encounter Aberaeron had a couple of early chances through James Hemming and Steffan Gruffudd before Lee Burrows gave the visitors the lead following a left sided move that gave home custodian Barry Edwards no chance. In the second half Saints keeper Neil Evans had to be at his best on a couple of occasions before Chris Thomas wrapped it up as he turned in a Burrows back header. Honours were shared at Lampeter where Ffostrasol were full value for their well worked draw. Jordan Jones gave the visitors an early lead but after Osian Williams and James Gudgeon had wrestled back the initiative Aled Davies struck to clinch a deserved point for the Wanderers. The spoils were also shared in the game between Llanybydder and Crannog. In a good game of football Luke Lovell struck twice to give the homeside an interval lead. A goal apiece from Leigh Davies and Huw Reed pulled Crannog back on level terms but after Gareth Edwards had restored the lead Charlie Welch struck late on to gain the visitors a draw. In the Division’s other game New Quay edged Aberporth by a solitary Mark Thompson goal for a victory that takes them to second place just a goal behind leaders Maesglas. Three League teams were involved in the first round of Cwpan Ceredigion with Cardigan leading the way as they put eight past the Llyfrgell Gen. There was one each for Chris Truslove, Simon Jones, Ben Davies, Alun Williams, Justin Evans and Peter Edwards while Gary Lawrence grabbed a couple. Wyn Davies netted the consolation for the Librarians.Dewi Stars registered a narrow win over Pencader with their solitary goal coming twelve minutes from the end through Aled Rees whilst goals from Chris Jones and Dominic Williams gave Maesglas victory over Aberdyfi. |
